The piece begins very peacefully in D♭ major before switching to a darker, more sinister C♯ minor portion, which is then redeemed by the D♭ major once again, all the while maintaining the ever present A♭/G♯ throughout the piece. “Raindrop” is so named due to the repeating A♭, which some say suggests the gentle patter of raindrops.
